"Over the past 20 years, I've been on safari in 30 national parks and conservancies. I've narrowed that down to my personal favorites to create my Signature Safari experience" — Benjamin Walls
Vision Statement By Benjamin Walls
The difference between a safari and an excellent safari is like the difference between lightning and the lightning bug.
If someone asked me to rank the greatest experiences a human can have – anywhere in the world – I would rank an exceptionally run safari at the very top of the list. Notice I used the word “exceptional”! It is how one goes on safari — the right destinations, guides, properties, times of year, modes of travel, safety protocols, etc. that makes all the difference. Safari is one of the most complex trips to truly get right. In short, an excellent safari is the sum of a thousand excellent decisions.
So, I hope you are now wondering, how on earth is an artist from Appalachia offering one of the world’s great safari experiences? In a word – obsession. I’m not in the travel business, this is my life’s calling. People in business make business decisions. Passionately obsessed people will do everything in their power to change your life in a two-week trip! That’s a high bar, but that is our actual goal with a WALLSabout trip!
At the time of writing, I’ve been traveling to E. Africa for 19 years. I consider it a second home, the land where some of my closest friends and business partners live. The place I want to make a lasting positive impact upon through tangible and measurable conservation initiatives. Of course, all of that starts with unlocking this land for you! We’re on a mission for you to have the trip of a lifetime.
Let’s go! – Benji
Day 1 En Route to East Africa!
Benji Tip: I’ve designed your first day in Nairobi to be relatively low impact, but if time and budget allow, I would recommend coming early to shake off jet lag and enjoy light activities or a spa day (must be booked before booking your flights).
Benji’s Reading / Watch List: Wildlife of East Africa by Martin B Withers (a copy will arrive by mail along with other Safari essentials before your trip).
Day 2 Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya’s bustling capital
Upon arrival into Nairobi, you are met by a WALLSabout representative and transferred to your beautiful hotel in the heart of Nairobi. If you do not come a day or two early, we strongly advise booking flights that land after 9:00 AM and before 5:00 PM wherever possible. Hotel check-in is 4:00 PM. Go to bed early! The real adventures begin tomorrow!
Benji Tip: If you can’t come a day early, hitting the arrival window above is key for getting a good night’s rest before the first day of your trip.

Day 3 Conservation Day in Nairobi
Meet your WALLSabout Program Director at 8:00AM for a Safari Briefing before breakfast.
We begin our adventure with exploring the amazing conservation work happening right in the city. Experience an up close and personal interaction with rescued giraffes at the Giraffe Sanctuary, and observe baby elephants at play at the Elephant Orphanage. Take in the sights of Nairobi as we stop in the city for lunch before returning to the hotel for an afternoon or leisure and relaxation before dinner.

Day 4 Ol Pejeta – Rhinos / Chimps / Lions
We fly north this morning to the Laikipia Plateau on the shoulders of Mt. Kenya and land in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Ol Pejeta is model of conservation, boasting the largest population of Black Rhinos in E. Africa as well as the Sweetwaters Conservancy for rescued chimpanzees that was established by Dr. Jane Goodall over 30 years ago. Ol Pejeta is also home of the last two Northern White Rhinos, where now-famous efforts are underway to save the species. Benjamin, his Gallery, and WALLSabout™ teams have been a part of this still-unfolding story, raising money and awareness for nearly a decade. Through those established relationships, you’ll become intimately connected to this remarkable story– one of the most critical conservation initiatives of our time. In addition to Rhinos and Chimps, we’ll see a whole range of wildlife (all the major predators can be found at Ol Pejeta) and some species you’ll not see at any of our other stops, such as the Reticulated Giraffe and the Grevy’s Zebra.
We’ll round out our first day in the bush with an afternoon game drive, followed by Sundowners (a traditional safari happy hour with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks) followed by our first dinner on Safari!
Our accommodation for this leg of our journey is the Sweetwaters Lodge Morani Tents, our first tented lodge perched on the shores of a thriving watering hole. As you relax on your private patio, keep an eye out for rhinos, water buffalo, hyenas, warthogs, giraffes, and any other myriad of wildlife stopping by for a drink.
Benji Tip: To get the most out of your experience, be bold in asking your Driver Guide questions! These proud ambassadors are not only my dear friends, but they are also walking encyclopedias that take great pride in sharing their knowledge! You’ll be hard pressed to stump them with any question about the flora and fauna, but don’t hesitate to ask about Kenyan culture , local ways of life, and how things are changing for people and wildlife alike. You’re among friends, don’t be shy!
Key Times* Breakfast at your leisure from 6:30AM 8:15 AM Porters collect your bags 9:00 AM Depart for Private Terminal 10:00 AM Flight to Ol Pejeta PM Afternoon Game Drive 7:00 PM Sundowners 7:30 PM Welcome Dinner *All times are approximate. Program Director will advise of exact times daily
Day 5 Ol Pejeta – Rhinos / Chimps / Lions
This morning we’ll enjoy an early breakfast and head out for a game drive in route to a specialized boma that’s home to the world’s last two Northern White Rhinos. There we’ll learn about their plight, and also the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process that’s underway in an effort to save the species. Benjamin and his teams started raising money and awareness for this cause nearly a decade ago when it appeared all hope had been lost. Today, through the efforts of a courageous group of scientists, rangers, and the financial support of concerned folks from around the world so much progress has been made: 29 embryos and counting have been created, a test IVF pregnancy in a different species of rhino was successful in 2023, and the scientists plan to start implanting the Northern White Rhino embryos into surrogate mothers this year. Today you’ll witness first-hand, both the horrible cost of human greed and complacency as well as the miracle of human compassion and determination. You’ll also meet some of the heroes of the later – the rangers of Ol Pejeta.
After our ranger talk and experience with the Northern White Rhinos, we’ll continue with our game drive in route to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary that was established by Dr. Jane Goodall 30 years ago. Here we’ll have the rare opportunity to witness a group of rescued Chimps that could not be released in the wild. Here in the sanctuary, these Chimps have an opportunity to live a near-wild existence and are incredible ambassadors for their species. We’ll then continue on our game drive with a lunch stop at the Sweetwaters Serena and then onward back to the lodge for an afternoon at your leisure where you can enjoy the resort, followed by sundowners, dinner, and a good night’s rest!
Benji Tip: Personally, I’d suggest resting this afternoon because Safari is a mini-marathon, and we’re just getting started!
Key Times* Breakfast at your leisure from 6:30 AM 7:30 AM Departure for game drive 9:00 AM Northern White Rhinos 11:00 AM Chimpanzees 1:00 PM Lunch 3:00 PM Afternoon at your leisure 7:00 PM Sundowners 7:30 PM Dinner *All times are approximate. Program Director will advise of exact times daily
Day 6 Amboseli – Mt. Kilimanjaro / Parades of Elephants
We fly south this morning to the iconic wonderland of Amboseli National Park. As we approach for landing in the park’s airstrip, don’t miss the spectacle out your window – Elephants grazing in the massive freshwater springs as far as the eye can see! Mt. Kilimanjaro, the often-clouded monarch of Africa, looms three dizzying miles above the park’s savannas and might even be visible out your window.
Upon landing, we’ll be greeted by familiar faces, our guides who drove overnight to collect us in the same trucks we were in yesterday afternoon (our flight cuts out a 12+ hour drive!). We’ll game drive on the way to our lodge, catch lunch overlooking one of the largest freshwater springs in the park, with elephants feeding and bathing in the distance. After lunch, we’ll catch a dip in the pool or a quick siesta before heading out for our afternoon game drive in the shadow of the world’s largest free-standing mountain. We’ll round out the evening with sundowners at my favorite bar in all of Africa (take note of this lodge’s common areas – this place should be on Kenya’s register of iconic historic properties). Unlike the colonial styling of many properties, this lodge was one of the first of the region built with a safari style all its own — mixing the classic round styling of the local Masai people while combining the grand timber beams. After sundowners’ we’ll enjoy dinner and time by the fire before calling it a night.
Benji Tip: Get ready for our warmest destination on our trip! Even though Amboseli rests at 3,333 feet above sea level it is actually 3,000 feet lower than Ol Pejeta and the weather here is noticeably warmer. Even though our lodge is nestled in the coolest part of Amboseli that receives a nice breeze off the freshwater springs, it can be warm. Personally, this is my favorite stop on the tour from a weather standpoint, but for those of you that are sensitive to heat, I’d advise keeping your mini fridge in your room stocked with water, don’t hesitate to request ice / chilled water from room service, limit your alcohol intake, and be sure your fan is INSIDE your mosquito net so you can feel the breeze at night. I’d also suggest leaving your window opened after turn down service (sometime they close them because locals get cold at night and they don’t understand we like things to be cooler!).

Day 7 Amboseli – Mt. Kilimanjaro / Parades of Elephants
If I could do just one more game drive before I die, I’d do the this one – the sunrise game drive in central Amboseli. There’s nothing like watching the sun slowly rise over the shoulder of Kilimanjaro as the massive parades of elephants slowly emerge on the horizon and begin their march towards the freshwater springs. One of the things that makes this morning so magic, is the fact there are so few other tourists around. This is because most tourists are staying outside of the park, a 1-to-2-hour drive away. This means we’ll bear witness to this morning miracle and be arriving back at breakfast while everyone else is bouncing their way back into the park.
Our afternoon game drive departs at 4PM. We’ll conclude the evening with Sundowners followed by dinner and some time by the fire. By tonight, you should be settling into the rhythm of Safari. Rest up as tomorrow is our biggest travel day as well as the best day to see how the locals live!
Benji Tip: This afternoon we have our longest periods of downtime on the trip. Revel in it! The view from one side of the property looks up to Kilimanjaro while the view from the other side of the property overlooks the massive freshwater springs and hundreds of elephants and the view from the top floor of the bar catches BOTH and the cool breeze! Walk the property grounds (this one is fenced), enjoy a dip in the pool, book yourself into a spa treatment, or enjoy a siesta. Remember, Safari is a marathon and we’re still less than half way. Rest up!

Day 8 Locals Day / Discovering Ngorongoro
Today we journey from one wonder of the world to the next – we leave the world’s tallest freestanding mountain in our wake and journey to the world’s largest collapsed volcano with a fully intact rim – the Ngorongoro Crater. However, our stops along the way on this day as well as the drive itself is not to be missed! Because we typically fly from one destination to the next, this is the only day we’ll have the opportunity to see towns, villages, farms, and the countryside. As noted, this is our longest drive day, but I love this drive as there is so much to explore visually as we cruise past – this is your best chance to see how the locals live, what they are growing, how they travel, etc! You’ll also enjoy an early, very Zen lunch at the Arusha Coffee Lodge before we continue on our way.
After lunch we’ll cruise into the countryside of Manyara and up the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley and onward to Ngorongoro! As we wind up the escarpment, keep an eye out for Baobab Trees, this is one of my favorite African trees and we won’t see them anywhere else on the trip. We’ll make all our stops brief so we can make it to one of the wonders of the natural world– the Ngorongoro Crater! Be sure to ask your guides what that funny word means!

Day 9 Exploring the Ngorongoro Crater
At sunrise, we’ll descend into the UNESCO designated World Heritage Site – the Ngorongoro Crater– the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The wild gardens of this Eden climb up and spill over the 1000’ tall rim of the crater. At only 14 miles wide, the crater is home to the densest population of lions in the world, countless herbivores, and the largest population of rhinos in Tanzania. It’s no wonder it is often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. After our early morning sightings, we’ll pause for a picnic breakfast within the crater before further discovering this enchanted land. At the conclusion of our explorations, we’ll emerge to the rim for a late lunch with an iconic view and afternoon at your leisure. Evening will bring stories with fellow travelers followed by live entertainment, sundowners and dinner overlooking the crater

Day 10 Serengeti National Park / The Seronera Valley
Today we meander from one legendary location to another! From Ngorongoro to Serengeti — to the world famous Seronera Valley or Central Serengeti. On our drive today, take note of the mysterious “kopjes” or rock outcroppings. Think back to “The Lion King” – remember that Simba was born on a giant rock? This is because Disney sent their animators here to Serengeti and the lions do indeed claim these iconic rocky landmarks as their territory – be sure to ask your guide why! Yes, it’s absolutely possible you’ll see lions on the kopjes — there’s no telling what all you will see in Serengeti. This land has it all and words fall short of what all you’ll be experiencing in the next couple of days. The best part is no one can predict what’s coming next and no one’s experience in this magic land is ever the same.
Upon arrival at the lodge, we’ll celebrate with sundowners and dinner before heading to bed early.
OPTIONAL: Hot Air Balloon Participants: Meet in the lobby before dinner for Balloon Briefing. Plan for an early morning tomorrow (exact time of morning departure shared at briefing).
Benji Tip: As noted in your Intake & Portal, book your hot air balloon a minimum of 90 days before you depart on your trip!

This morning most travelers will depart for our optional hot air balloon experience over the central Serengeti Valley followed by a Champagne breakfast beneath an Acacia Tree. All other travelers will depart for game drive after breakfast at the lodge. From 10 AM onward we’ll rejoin as a group and explore the central Serengeti Valley.
We’ll maximize our time in the valley returning to the lodge for a late lunch and afternoon at your leisure. This is an ideal afternoon to book a spa treatment, relax by the pool, or catch up on some rest! We’ll round out the evening with sundowners and live entertainment followed by a delicious dinner.

Day 12 Transfer to Arusha / Visit the African Cultural Heritage Center
Today we say goodbye to Serengeti National Park, departing to Arusha. Along the way we’ll stop in to see our friends at the African Cultural Heritage Center. This is like E. Africa’s Guggenheim and this family built it from the ground up!
Please don’t dally when you arrive as time is limited and there is so much to see (don’t miss the African mask collection and the massive Tanzanite stones!).
OPTIONAL: For those of you that booked the Great Migration Extension, skip down to that itinerary below.
Benji Tip: Souvenir Alert! This is your absolute best stop for souvenirs! The Cultural Heritage Center has hundreds of artists and retailers represented under one roof. The family that owns it is known as the Kings of Tanzanite so if you’re into buying a Tanzanite stone, this is hands down the best place in E. Africa (did you know Tanzanite is 1000 times rarer than diamonds?).
Catch an afternoon of rest at the hotel, and begin preparations for your journey onward to your safari extensions or back home!

Add the Great Migration River Crossing
"It's known as the greatest wildlife spectacle on the planet, and the only time of year you can add it to my Signature Safari is July! Short on time and just want to witness a crossing? Ask my travel team about booking this independently!"– Benjamin Walls
Day 12 In Search of a River Crossing – Northern Serengeti / Lamai!
Wheels up! Today we continue your Safari adventure by flying to Northern Serengeti, a remote outpost called Lamai. We are all carrying high hopes of witnessing one of the world’s great wildlife spectacles — the great migration crossing the croc infested currents of the Mara River. Get ready for your heart to pound, but only after you’ve waited patiently for the privilege of a crossing and only if our luck holds. As you know, there is no guarantee of a crossing, but we have strategically arrived when the crossings are typically at their peak — let’s see what the days here have in store!
For luck and for fun, I’d suggest practicing the call of the wild! “Gnu… Gnu! Gnu…Gnu!! Gnu!! Gnu!!! Here’s a little inspiration to get you started… Enjoy!
Aside from the crossing, take careful note of the Lamai area. Crossings aside, this is one of my favorite parts of E. Africa — the beauty of this Acacia-dotted landscape will stay with you for life! The rolling hills are littered with Kopjes, Rock Figs, Leopards, Rhinos, huge prides of Lions and relatively few tourists (except around the crossings). In short, keep your eyes peeled for all the non-wildebeest action!
After waiting for and hopefully catching a crossing, we’ll head to our beautiful accommodation in time for sundowners followed by dinner.

★★★★★ Our experience with WALLSabout Luxury Travel was simply amazing! From the great care and service before the trip to a perfectly curated and executed itinerary, we were always in great hands with the WALLSabout team. Beyond a first-class safari experience where our highest expectations were exceeded every single day, we really appreciated the attention to conservation and stewardship throughout the trip. That made our trip of a lifetime even more worthwhile--we were proud to travel with WALLSabout and would gladly book with them again in the future!
★★★★★ It’s not just the animals—although they are obviously the star of the show—it was the carefully curated, five-star lodges, all within the parks; the wonderful food; the expertise of the local guides; the truly amazing program director and 24/7 stateside concierge service; the length of the trip (so many safaris are just too short, this one has the luxury of taking you to seven different, distinct locations in Kenya and Tanzania), and the off-the-beaten-path visits to places like Jane Goodall’s chimp sanctuary, the rhino sanctuary that is home to the last two northern white rhinos, a Masai village, and a visit in the Serengeti to a museum devoted to fascinating anthropological discoveries in the area.
And, oh yes, the animals and the scenery, as well as add-ons such as the giraffe and elephant sanctuaries in Nairobi (yes, go!) and gorilla trekking, Mt. Kilimanjaro climbing, and hot air ballooning at sunrise (we regret that we didn’t sign up for those).
Was I skeptical about signing on with a small, stateside travel company? Yes. Was I wrong? Absolutely.
You couldn’t be in better hands with WallsAbout. You get what you pay for, and when it comes to travel in Africa, we thought it was important to truly be looked after and to be given a top-notch experience. We were right!
★★★★★ From the moment we booked to the last day of the trip the team at Wall About were on top of every detail.
We are usually DIY travelers but when we saw the New Zealand itinerary we couldn't resist putting our trust in the Walls team to take the lead and guide us through this beautiful country.
Special features: beautiful accommodations in every location, a program director and drivers who knew the local culture and most efficient routes, exceptional attention to delicious food, and a wide range of activities.
We can't imagine that we could have seen as much of New Zealand in such an enjoyable and relaxing way! Highly recommend!
★★★★★ Our trip was to East Africa Feb. 2025. Phenomenal trip, excellent staff both here and abroad. The program director was easy to travel with and handled everything both planned and unplanned during the trip. The accommodations and meals were excellent. The rather complex travel arrangement were handled without a flaw including a international border crossing. My wife and I are already booking another trip with Wallsabout.
★★★★★ Walls About provided us with the most INCREDIBLE travel experience! Every detail was taken care of - we had luxury accommodations, excellent guides and amazing experiences! We toured Nairobi, summited Kilimanjaro, and visited Zanzibar on our travels! Every bit of the trip was perfect. Walls About's team is exceptional and we can't wait to do another adventure!
★★★★★ My wife and I just returned from a WALLSabout safari in Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. What an amazing trip! From the start, the organization of the tour was professional and seamless. WALLSabout thought of everything. We were very well prepared with travel advice and trip information. The Concierge Team was available 24/7 through What's App. They handled all the in-country bookings lodges, travel, meals, programs, tipping, etc. Over the years, WALLSabout has nurtured in country contacts and fine-tuned the trip. The game drives were amazing. Who knew we could be on one ourselves. Our experienced program director brimmed with enthusiasm and kept everything running smoothly. He and the driver guides knew an incredible amount about the parks and where we had the best chances of finding the animals. They took care to set us up for pictures, taking advantage of what nature had to put in front of us, cats, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, rhinos, zebras, hippos, etc. The splendor of the parks was incredible, not to mention Mt Kilimanjaro and Kenya in the distance.
We were 10 travelers split between 2 Toyota Landcruisers with raisable tops. The lodges we stayed at were all upscale. The people of Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda take pride in their animals and want ecotourists to have an unforgettable experience. They could not have been kinder.
WALLSabout blended other activities with the game drives: tour of a Masai village, giraffe, elephant, chimpanzee and rhino sanctuaries, lectures from rangers and an archaeologist (Olduvai Gorge), African dance recitals, a hot air balloon ride, shopping in Arusha.
Hope we get a chance to do another WALLSabout trip. I give it a 10 out of 10.
★★★★★ My husband and I worked with WALLSabout Luxury to plan and experience an epic safari trip to Kenya and Tanzania! Benjamin and associates put together an incredible itinerary for us where we met other like-minded adventure travelers. The attention to detail, responsiveness, and follow-up throughout the trip was extraordinary! They even surprised me with a birthday cake celebration at one of the lodges! We highly recommend WALLSabout Luxury to any traveler looking for a boutique traveling experience that goes above and beyond expectations!
★★★★★ WALLSabout Luxury Travel provided a truly unforgettable one-in-a-lifetime adventure to Africa! Every detail was well thought through & executed.
Our tour director ensured everything ran smoothly. He was very attuned to the needs of each and every person in our group.
The driver/guides were extremely knowledgeable & adept at managing the rough roads…and always seemed to know the best spots for seeing all the different species…getting us super close to all the animals.
The lodgings hand-selected by Benjamin for our different safaris in Kenya & Tanzania each had their own special character.
Our visit to a Maasai village was very emotional & left a lasting impact on me. The women of the village welcomed us with a wonderful tribal dance & warmly shared their culture with us. I was most touched by getting to meet & see the children in their schoolhouse.
The sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I still get goosebumps thinking about how amazing that experience was!
It was comforting to have a 24 hour concierge service for any questions we had during the trip. The team back in Asheville worked diligently & were in frequent contact to pass along necessary logistics/details.
In summary, I highly recommend WALLSabout Luxury Travel for your African Safari. I was so pleased with them, I’m planning on choosing them for my next adventures in Australia & New Zealand in 2026.
★★★★★
It’s been over a month since my husband and I got back from our safari adventure and we still flip through our Shutterfly book and get excited about the amazing things we saw and did. WallsAbout made everyday a “best travel moment” and our drivers and guide were outstanding.
★★★★★ My wife and I found WallsAbout travel by accident and what a great find it was! While in Ashville we walked by the gallery and admired the artwork and told Cassidy how an African Safari was on our bucket list. She told us how they lead these Safaris and as we quickly learned more, we booked the trip and included some close friends who also wanted to go on a trip like this. My wife and I have traveled throughout the US and Europe but mostly on solo trips. This African Safari was our first organized tour and we were apprehensive of who will be on the trip. To our surprise (and I think this happens quite often) everyone on the trip was wonderful and would soon become close friends that we would keep in touch with well after the trip.
The trip itself was VERY well organized and our leader Fro was outstanding. I think we were an easy group, but he was not frazzled by anything. He was able to read the group’s feelings and made quick modifications to the schedule based on our needs and how tired or energetic we were. The accommodations were first class and extremely comfortable considering how remote some of the locations were. All of the lodges were right where the action was, and we could often see wildlife right out of our room. Our driver guides were outstanding and both informative and entertaining. They put us in perfect positions to see all of the wildlife and always worked hard to anticipate where the animals would go next so we could be ahead of the other tours. Fro helped us all with our photography skills and this trip helped me rekindle my love for photography. I took thousands of pictures and was able to narrow it down to 3500!! When we got home, we had to buy a new digital picture frame so we could share our experiences with family and friends who visit.
We already have a reunion planned with our group and are also planning some trips together in the future. Some in our group have already booked their next WallsAbout adventure. If you are looking for an experience of a lifetime, we strongly suggest WallsAbout for a trip like this.
★★★★★ Benjamin,
I have no words, this trip exceeded all expectation and was quite the adventure. It’s going to take me a while to decompress. I’m so grateful to have been able to make this journey with WALLSabout. I couldn’t have been more impressed it was, as I told Fro, a trip of a lifetime. It began with a warm reception both at the airport and hotel and never stopped. Our guides were the greatest, they were so incredibly knowledgeable and attentive in both locations, they wouldn’t stop until we saw it all and we saw it all! The accommodations were amazing and the staff at each location very friendly and helpful. You have done a magnificent job putting this all together. What a beautifully well oiled machine.
Your icing on the cake is Fro, this group did not make it easy on him and he handled everything that was thrown his way with ease and grace. I’m so pleased to have taken this journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I hope to see you in the very near future.
★★★★★ I love exploring new places but generally opt to book things myself versus going with a tour group. However, going on safari I knew I would have a better experience with a group. So I decided to let WALLSabout take me on this adventure. I’m so glad I did! Every part of this trip was incredible. Benjamin Walls and his team create the most amazing experience.
The guides are the very best. The hotels selected for each part of our trip were beyond my expectations. I met so many amazing people I now call friends. I saw every animal I had hoped to see (y’all lions are for real majestic!! I was speechless).
I also opted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Because if you’re flying to Tanzania, why not?! It was also a truly incredible experience. The team that led us up the mountain were very experienced and that helped me feel safe. On summit night I started to feel the altitude and was concerned I wasn’t going to be able to make it but our guides knew what to do and continued to check on me to make sure I was still in a place to safely finish the climb. I’m happy to report I made it to the top!
Everything about our trip was planned out and taken care of. I enjoyed it so much I decided to sign up to go to New Zealand with WALLSabout in 2023! They’ve made a tour group believer out of me!
★★★★★ I would recommend WallsAbout to anyone interested in experiencing an African Safari. The itinerary is so thoughtfully curated and specialized. I have only glowing comments about the entire trip.
★★★★★ A trip of a lifetime! Returned 10 days ago from our safari in Kenya and Tanzania. Hard to describe how beautiful the scenery and the wildlife were, not to mention the people. We saw the "Big Five" plus many, many more animals and birds.
We stayed at a variety of lodges which was fun. The guides were all first rate and made our experience each day more special than the last. The staff at all the lodges couldn't have done more to make our stays comfortable and safe.
We did the Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and the Zanzibar add-ons following the safari portion of the trip and both were more than worth it. Visiting the gorillas was one of the most exciting experiences of my life.
The WALLsabout team in Asheville were on top of all the logistics and details both before and during the trip. Our safari leader Steve was outstanding. He made every effort to get to know each member of the group. He was professional and very knowledgeable, and he was great fun.
Without hesitation, we highly recommend WALLSabout Luxury Travel.
★★★★★ Going through WALLSabout Luxury Travel for our trip to the Canadian Rockies was the best travel decision we ever made. The level of detail and planning from the WALLAbout team was very evident throughout the trip. As someone who is a nervous traveller and sweats the details, I was extremely impressed. We felt well cared for and pampered but never to the point of being intrusive. We were free to explore on our own or take part in a group excursion. Everything about this trip exceeded my expectations. The scenery was beyond amazing from Vancouver to Banff and the hotels and food were exceptional. Going with WALLAbout allowed us to just enjoy the experience and that's the best way to travel.
★★★★★ What an amazing “once in a lifetime” trip! WALLSabout Luxury Travel took care of every detail…unique accommodations, domestic flights, visas, etc. We had excellent drivers/guides and a program director who managed all of the details during our safari. The itinerary was excellent and included up close and personal animal interactions. The concierge staff provided outstanding support before and during this outstanding trip.
★★★★★ My husband and I had the trip of a lifetime with WALLSabout Travel in July 2021. No detail was overlooked for our amazing African Safari. The itinerary was incredible and each day was better than the previous one. Our guide became an instant and lasting friend and we became close with the other travelers in our group. We were personally a little naive about what to expect in Africa and that added to the thrill of the experience. Everything was handled by a huge team of people, making sure our travel was safe and seamless. We totally entrusted WALLSabout travel and they absolutely delivered a dream vacation. The luxury and concierge treatment was top notch, but did not compromise the sense of exhilarating adventure. This is a life-changing trip that is extremely special, it could not have gone any better. I recommend WALLSabout without reservation and hope to travel again with them soon.
Simply put, WALLSabout gave us the trip of a lifetime. Our African safari was perfect in every way. Their attention to detail and customer service was truly amazing. The lodging was breathtaking. Their program director, Fro, has become a lifelong friend. Each day of the safari surpassed the previous. There were countless times my wife and I said “I can’t believe what I’m seeing”! I can’t imagine a better travel experience than what Wallsabout provided.
★★★★★ My husband and I wanted a special trip for our 35th wedding anniversary and WALLSabout Luxury Travel exceeded our expectations. The Wallsabout team's attention to every detail was exceptional. From the places we went, our accommodations, who took care of us and their availability before and during the trip made this trip a very memorable trip. Thank you.
★★★★★ My husband and I travelled with Wallsabout to Eastern Africa for Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda followed by a Safari in Kenya & Tanzania. We found our very high expectations to not only be met but exceeded throughout our 18 day African Adventure. The itinerary included multiple National Parks which featured varying climates, geographical, geological and wildlife viewing led by knowledgable guides imparting interesting and relevant information throughout each days excursion.
The many cultural experiences from the Rwanda Genocide Museum, the LEAF Global Arts Program, the Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, the Maasai Village, the OlPejeta Conservancy and the Olduvai Gorge archeological site were appreciated, enlightening & fascinating.
Steve Harkey, our program director was the consummate professional who tied all the varied and many elements of this amazing trip together. With his considerable talent and extensive experience he insured that all elements of the trip from beginning to end were perfect as we traversed across East Africa. I would highly recommend this once in a lifetime adventure with Wallsabout to those wanting to have a unique and life changing experience.
★★★★★ Where to start!!!!! This trip was beyond our imagination and expectations. From talking about it to booking and finally going, everything was seamless.
You could tell that every aspect of this trip had been well thought over. Food and lodging were exceptional and our guides were the best. The extent of their knowledge was amazing, like having a live encyclopedia traveling with you. The sights were mindblowing especially being very lucky to spot rarely seen activities like momma cheetah chasing and catching a gazelle then getting her cub to share the catch. So many amazing moments that will last a lifetime in our memories. This experience was worth every single pennies and then some. Looking forward to another adventure with Wallsabout
★★★★★ We had the most amazing experience on our safari. It truly was a trip of a lifetime. From the pre travel support to the guides and accommodations everything was beautifully curated. Everyday was was a 10 out of 10. We will return again but only with the Wallsabout team. Nothing will ever compare to our experience.

SIMPLY THE BEST VACATION EVER!
My husband and I had been saving for a trip to East Africa for many years. When we stumbled upon Benjamin's gallery in Asheville and realized he had a travel company we were thrilled. He was there at the time and spent 1.5 hours with us "on the fly" to explain where we would go/stay and what to expect. After spending time with him, we signed up on the spot and gave a deposit that day. The trip was simply the BEST vacation I have EVER been on for many reasons. The staff at Walls are top notch, extremely professional and don't miss ANYTHING. They are there to guide you through everything from start to finish. I can't imagine having to plan this magnitude of a trip on my/our own. No detail is overlooked. If you are even remotely thinking of going on a Walls trip please call them for a detailed account of how it all comes together. Would I use Walls again? YOU BET I WOULD and will in the hopefully very near future.
★★★★★ The gorilla trip in Rwanda was an add on. Our driver guide was exceptional, just like the ones in Kenya and Tanzania The gorilla piece in the picturesque Volcanos' National Park was safe and well organized, utilizing trackers, rangers and porters. Groups of 8-10 people were shepherded into the forest to encounter families of mountain gorillas. We were within several yards of them! On the way back we visited the Dianne Fossey/Ellen Degeneres Museum. While in Rwanda, WALLSbout arranged for a visit to the Leafe youth center (art, music and dance to promote educational opportunities for local youth), a tour of the genocide museum in Kigali, a visit to a local village, a dance performance at the Amarembo resort. Dancing and singing is how they express welcome in those countries.
All in all, it was an exotic blend of nature and culture that exceeded our expectations. Add to that a great bunch of fellow travelers.
★★★★★
Amazing company, easy to work with, personalized service, attention to details, and a bucket list trip all describe our spring 2019 safari with WallsAbout Travel. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. I have amazing picturea and fantastic memories. The company owner, Benjamin, who is also a professional photographer has hand picked this trip from the time of year (baby animals including wildebeest calving), itinerary, lodges, local guides to the program director, Fro, with the lovely Aussie accent who was a blast. Maggie is so helpful getting it all set up. Highly recommend!!!
There were two amazing and spectacular parts of this trip. The first was the beauty of the Canadian Rockies, and the second was how well we were taken care of throughout the trip without a single letdown or missed step.
Vancouver and the Rocky Mountaineer were really good and a fine way to start the trip. The train experience was so comfortable, the food was surprisingly good, and the crew was really knowledgeable and friendly. For me the experience became so beautiful as soon as we reached Alberta and particularly Lake Louise and Banff. It was like nothing I had ever seen before including my time in the western US Rockies, and Lake Louise is the most beautiful place I have visited in my life. The chateaus where we stayed were like nowhere else I have stayed in my vacations.
I can't say enough about the WallsAbout team. Benjamin was with us since this was the company's first trip to Canada, and that made the trip very personal for me. I was so impressed with Kate who was in charge of the administrative aspect, and everything was perfect from our luggage in our rooms before we arrived to keeping us on track so that we always knew the next step. The WallsAbout staff prepared us very well before the trip and were so friendly; they have set a really high bar for future trips.
I took this trip right after my retirement, and I was touched that they had a celebration cake for me in mid-trip. This was a really nice touch in a tour that had so many. I strongly recommend this tour.

Our most popular itineraries are 12 days, but we offer itineraries as short as 5 days and as long as 30 days.
How far in advance should I book my safari?
Six to 18 months prior to departure is highly recommended. However, if we have availability, we can get you ready for a trip in as little as 30 days. Keep in mind that our trips typically sell out months before departure.

What is the Hot Air Balloon experience?
Do I need to carry bug spray or treat my clothes?
“Personally, in a place like Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA, I’m constantly fighting the mosquitos with a DEET-based insect repellent! They love me!! In contrast, in E. Africa I rarely feel the need to use bug spray. That said, for sun and insect protection, I do wear long sleeves, long pants, closed toed shoes, and mid-calf socks, and with this set up I never feel the need to reach for the insect repellent (I do carry it just in case). Also, I do not personally treat my clothes with any repellant. For those determined to wear short sleeves and shorts, I’d highly advise applying bug spray as a precaution.” –– Benjamin Walls

What shoes do I wear for Gorilla Trekking?
We recommend lightweight high ankle backpacking boots – nothing you would use in the Swiss Alps but probably a bit more supportive than trail running shoes.
You will want ankle support/protection because you are not always on a “trail” so the terrain can be uneven at times (rocks/roots/bamboo).
